AGC Timeline

January, 1979 Delaware Valley Galvanizing (DVG) is built with 5’-0” x 5’-0” x 35’-6” kettle.

March, 1982 American Galvanizing Company is established by purchasing DVG.

November, 1982 AGC joins the American Galvanizers Association (AGA).

August, 1986 AGC changes out its first kettle revising plant layout & adding capacity.

January, 1987 John Gregor becomes President of American Galvanizing Company.

December, 1992 AGC changes out its second kettle adding one foot in depth: 5’-0”x 6’-0”x 35’-6”.

July, 1993 The entire compound @ AGC is paved & Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan adopted.

August, 1993 Fire ravages the roof of the galvanizing Plant prompting structural steel replacement as well as a new roof but miraculously no production time is lost!

April, 1994 John Gregor becomes President of American Galvanizers Association.

April, 1996 John Gregor’s AGA term as President is completed.

April, 1997 AGC wins its first AGA Galvanizing Excellence Award for Electrical Utilities for the Amtrak Secaucus Catenary Project in North Jersey.

October, 1997 AGC helps in development of acid inhibitor & is written up in Modern Metals Magazine for its involvement.

December, 1999 AGC completes its large Plant expansion adding 40% more floor space.

June, 2000 AGC changes out its third kettle adding depth & length: 6’-6”x 8’-6”x 55’-0”.
The Double Nickel (55 feet in length) kettle is born!

July, 2000 The Plant retro-fit is complete changing all process tanks to the new 55 ft length.

January, 2003 George Cheesman promoted to Operations Manager.

April, 2003 AGC wins TWO (2) AGA Galvanizing Excellence Awards for Industrial Applications for the Ravenswood Power Plant in NYC and for the Bridge and Highway Market for the Fore River Bridge in Quincy, Massachusetts

March, 2006 A two year AGA training session is completed awarding six (6) current AGC supervisory personnel “Master Galvanizer” status.

April, 2006 AGC wins THREE (3) AGA Galvanizing Excellence Awards for the Bridge and Highway Market for the Freddie Mac Pedestrian Bridge in Mclean, Va. and for Duplex Coatings for the WAWA Convenient Store Gas Pumping Station Canopies in the Mid Atlantic region and for Industrial Applications for the A&M Composting Building in Manheim, Pa.

February, 2007 AGA training sessions are completed awarding eight (8) current AGC supervisory and technical sales personnel “certified hot dip galvanizing inspector” status.

April, 2007 AGC wins AGA Galvanizing Excellence Award for Electrical Utilities for the Johnson & Johnson Corporate Building Solar Panel System in New Brunswick, NJ.

April, 2008 AGC wins AGA Galvanizing Excellence Award for Duplex Coatings for the Chinatown Park Commemorative Structure in Boston, Massachusetts.

July, 2008 AGC completes its latest Plant expansion adding 20% more floor space.

December, 2009 AGC changes out its fourth kettle adding 18” of depth: 6’-6”x 10’-0”x 55’-0”.

April, 2009 AGC wins AGA Galvanizing Excellence Award for Bridge and Highway Market for the Tappan Zee Bridge Barriers in New York.

April, 2010 AGC wins AGA Galvanizing Excellence Award for Recreation and Entertainment Market for the “Out On A Limb” Tree Adventure at the Morris Arboretum in Philadelphia, Pa.
